IUP DEE

The IUP DEE has successfully organised the “Academic Recharging for Faculty Members” with LIA Semarang. It was held on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 6th – 7th, 2018 in the 1st floor meeting room of the Faculty of Economics at 8:30 – 11.00 AM. It is an effort from the Department of Economic Education to improve the quality of resources in meeting the global demands. Therefore, the IUP DEE collaborated with LIA Semarang to warm up conversational skills of the lecturers of the IUP DEE. The event was packed through an interactive discussion and was attended by about 25 lecturers of Economic Education. This agenda is also prepared before the lecturers will teach the IUPians on upcoming academic year, which will be started on March 12th, 2018.

Dr. Ade Rustiana, as Chairman of the Department of Economic Education very welcomed this agenda. He said that he appreciated with the IUP DEE effort to always put quality as a priority. Meanwhile, Inaya Sari Melati, S.Pd., M.Pd. as an Executive Chairman of IUP DEE in the opening remarks said that IUP DEE is trying to engage collaborative works throughout faculty, staffs, and students to sustain a passion for excellence. This Academic Recharging with LIA Semarang is one of the ways to produce leading-edge teaching with global impact, she added.

This workshop comprised two sessions. The first session was intended to motivate the audiences in breaking the language barriers. The facilitator, who is the Branch Manager LIA Semarang, Mr. Ignanius Aristiono shared his story that every success in learning English started from a mistake. “The more we did any mistakes, the more we learned and the more we got success,” said him.

The second session was practicing time. It was about functional and topical English. The facilitator, Mr. Agung, explained on how to face daily activity English basis and how to respond to a critical discussion in English.

The session was packed in the attractive conversation, discussion and it generated a positive response from the participants. In can be seen that after the event, some of participants were still busy continuing the discussion with them. (Raeni/Program Coordinator of Accounting Education).
