Iftar and Sharing Session: A taste of Ramadan in Foreign Countries

The IUP DEE has successfully organised the “Iftar and Sharing Session: A taste of Ramadan in Foreign Countries” with MADANI (Masyarakat Muda dan Teladan Islami) and Mata Garuda Jawa Tengah. It was held on Thrusday, June 7th, 2018 in the backyard of Faculty of Economics, Universitas Negeri Semarang at 4:00 – 6:30 PM. This event was attended by more than 40 students from the IUP DEE, other IC students from Geography, Public Health, Chemical Engineering, Development Economics and other departments at UNNES.
It is an effort from the Department of Economic Education collaborates with the others to disseminate positive values, meet and great other students from international classes in the UNNES. Also this event is prepared for student before they are having chance to experience Ramadan while study in overseas. Sharing session was delivered by Raeni, S.Pd., M.Sc. based on her experience and other members of Mata Garuda Jawa Tengah who study in 5 Continents comprises students from Illinois, Groningen, Hongkong, Kairo and Sydney.
“As student from outside the IUP DEE, it was a great experience to be part of this event with other students from international classes, both those who were fasting and those who weren’t, and to make this event a success for all attendees. We get the spirit of Ramadan, show unity and promote a sense of community which I think we succeeded in doing”, said participants.
Kemal Budi Mulyono, S.Pd., M.Pd. as a representative from the IUP DEE in the opening remarks said that IUP DEE is trying to engage collaborative works throughout faculty, staffs, and students to sustain a passion for excellence. This iftar and sharing session is one of the ways to equip students in facing global challenge and practicing religious activities, he added.
The session was packed in the attractive conversation, discussion and it generated a positive response from the participants. In can be seen that after the event, some of participants were still busy continuing the discussion with them.
