IUPians is learning from Macau

We have a great news, one of the IUPians students is selected to participate international workcamp in Macau. Ms Uswatun Hasanah, IUPians 2016 of Accounting Education is going to teamed up with 3 other university students from Indonesia to do amazing project with 15 international volunteers from Macau, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Korea, and several other countries around the world under the theme “Macau International Workcamp 2017: The Feast of Na-Tcha in the Historic Centre of Macau.”

This 10-day project starts from June 6th until 16th 2017 funded by Associacao de Nova Juventude Chinesa de Macau. This great event is different from other volunteering activities. It is mainly about traditional culture preservation and cultural heritage promotion, through a series of workshops, seminars, press conference, city cleaning action, heritage tour and participation in the Feast and Parade. Thus, it provides a very good opportunity for young generation to join the festival as a cultural event, to get familiar with the Macau World Heritage, experience the unique “East meets west” culture while working along with the local people. As the youngest participant in this event, she is already preparing for the performances mentored by IUP Executive team. In the workshop, Ms Uswatun will present her mini research on “Jepara Kota Ukir” as one of the ways to preserve her local culture. She will perform traditional dance “Maumere” in cultural event and other activities.

This project aligns with the University and IUP vision on conservation values especially culture preservation. According to Mr Sandy Arief, IUP excecutive team also provides ‘Pre-Departure Orientation’ to equip her from academic, administration, and social culture perspectives. “I firmly believe that Ms. Uswatun is going to be a great IUP Ambassador in Macau. She is well-prepared to join this activities. This sucess story adds other great achievents made by IUPians. As we know that in the early May 2017, Sari Lestari and Puji Novita Sari IUPians 2016 won as a 2nd runner-up for Best Paper category at International Student Discussion Forum 2017 conducted by UKSW Salatiga,” he added. After returning from Macau, Ms Uswatun will share her brilliant expericences at IUP Talks for all IUPians. Can’t wait to be amazed with her stories. Happy exploring, Uswatun!
